Original artwork description
An expressive landscape built around an imagined encounter between light, colour and the natural world.
A vivid orange field of light rises behind a dense forest of blue-green evergreens, while a quiet violet sky creates an unexpected contrast above. The landscape is deliberately removed from naturalistic colour, allowing the scene to exist somewhere between memory, dream and observation.
The forest is built through repeated gestural marks, with variations of turquoise, deep blue, emerald and yellow-green creating movement and depth. Above it, the orange expanse is textured with countless small, intuitive marks, transforming what might initially appear to be a sunset or distant mountain into something more ambiguous.
The title is taken from a line by Emily Dickinson, whose poetry has long influenced my approach to landscape, particularly her ability to describe fleeting moments in nature that feel almost impossible to name.
This is a painting about atmosphere rather than a specific place — about the sensation of encountering a landscape that feels familiar and, at the same time, completely imagined.
