Original artwork description:

Filler on board, oak panel
My works are not painted but cast in oak panels using standard wall filler.

This is the sixth piece in the Stone Conversations series. The Voice of the People – this elusive entity, or disembodied view, has often been claimed by society’s rulers. But this voice can’t be used by any singular agent, as one part can never truly represent the whole. It belongs to the immaterial register of pure language, but as such, we can imagine it exists.

Still, any demand the people could make as a whole must be equally applicable to all, which means the only true request of the people must be about equality. So, in my view, anyone or any group speaking up against oppression, exploitation, discrimination, and injustice is not solely arguing for themselves—they are indeed evoking the voice of the people.

The Stone Conversations series depicts imagined conversations among stones. What would they say? The series reminds me of the scene in "Everything Everywhere All at Once", where two stones are talking at the end of a cliff. But in this series, I assume the language of stones is restricted to only one word—the imprint of their shape. This single word can have any meaning. Sometimes I think that is enough. Maybe the core of language is to communicate—not to make sense.
