About Laura Rota

Biography

Art has accompanied Laura Rota since childhood. Even before she could read, she would leaf through the weekly volumes of ‘I Maestri del Colore’, traveling imaginatively through time and space via the works of great masters, from antiquity to the modern era.

Her classical studies, formal training, and a career in graphic design—alongside teaching in color theory, Gestalt, and the history of graphic design—have shaped a practice grounded in a refined balance between discipline and intuition, which now guides her painting.

Her artistic research is self-directed, nourished by a deep engagement with art history and personal experience.

Rota’s visual language is abstract and geometric. At the core of her work lies the circle—a pure, harmonious form—intersected into compositions she defines as ‘Circles of Joy’.

Her paintings hold the gaze and invite contemplation: a temporary suspension of the everyday, where beauty, harmony, and a sense of inner resonance emerge.

Working entirely freehand, without masking, she employs flat and uniform color fields, preserving the authenticity of the manual gesture even within a rigorously constructed abstraction. Though geometric in structure, her works are rooted in visual memories of nature, in the art that has shaped her, and in a subtle attention to themes that extend beyond the purely aesthetic.

Although her work has only recently entered the public sphere, it has already been presented in international solo and group exhibitions.

She has also collaborated with Boralevi Firenze on a limited-edition design carpet, entirely handwoven by master artisans.

Her work speaks to a discerning audience—collectors who are deeply attentive to color, harmony, and emotional depth.
