About James Potter

I suffer from anxiety and have done since thirteen years old, which made me struggle socially. Art is my escape from this and the subjects I choose - woods; trees; waterfalls and the sea - calm me greatly. I love the movement of water, especially with fish in a pond and the crashing of waves at the sea. The stillness of a wood with the sunlight shining through the leaves offer a great deal of calm and joy; the tranquil flow of a waterfall and river offers a joyous escape from stress and worries. I strive to be more intuitive in my painting, with confident brushstrokes and colours. I enjoy painting wet into wet to create the flow of water and to lay a stroke of colour down without blending.
