“Tuna and the Adriatic Blues
The sea, she ain't always a postcard, pal.
Sometimes she just spits,
froths up like a cheap beer,
and throws something heavy at the sky.
This one, this fish,
all muscle and silver desperation,
caught in the act of leaping.
Yeah, leaping from what? Or to what?
Doesn't matter. It’s the leap itself.
Behind it, "CROATIA" scraped on the canvas,
a few red roofs huddled, a bell tower
poking through the gloom.
Like they’re watching, these little towns,
from some crumbling cliff edge.
They’ve seen it all before.
The big ones jump. The big ones fall.
The clouds hang low, pregnant with more shit.
And you just stand there,
another day, another splash.
Another goddamn tuna,
trying to fly.
Fools.
The sea always wins.
Always.“
