"Trust the Cat" — A Visual Paradox of Trust and Doubt

In this work, Kusto blends the intuitive simplicity of folk art with the emotional intensity of neo-expressionism to create a psychologically charged image. The figure’s face embodies inner tension: one eye is wide open and alert, while the other is crossed out — a gesture of self-protection or refusal to absorb excessive information. This visual decision expresses a state of doubt, a search for equilibrium between intuition and awareness.

In the foreground, a cat appears — a traditional archetype of inner wisdom. Its closed eyes do not signify blindness but rather a deep, intuitive acceptance of the world. The cat seems to invite the viewer to momentarily let go of analysis and trust their inner voice.

The color palette enhances the emotional charge: red accents speak of passion, inner pulse, and emotional depth, while pastel blues and ochres bring a sense of calm and balance.
