Artwork description:

This is an original gelatin silver print from a negative collage with solarization (meaning there is no negative available for reproduction) by American artist Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO). The work is 9.5” high by 13.25” wide. The framed size of the work is 16.25” height by 20.25” width. The subject is a marriage, a surreal vision of one. On the left, filling most of the picture plane, is a photographic image of the front of an ornate stone basilica with two spires which is being struck by lightning. On the right, partially obscured is a young bride in traditional wedding gown, veil and bouquet, holding up her skirt to walk down the aisle. She is shown full-length in profile with her father’s head visible behind her. The palette is monochrome in the original gray tones of the original black and white photographs. The work is titled “Trouble in Paradise.” It is in excellent condition and signed and hand titled on the lower matboard edge. The work with white matting is framed under glass (plexiglass for shipping) with a black gloss metal frame, with hardware ready to hang.
