It was a beautiful day for bird watching along the Tinicum marshes in Pennsylvania. The marshy field burned brightly in the sun searing an indelible image in my brain that I needed to capture in paint. This painting was done quickly with a pallet knife to lay the initial colors one over the other. Then I applied the upper layer of color and used the brush handle to etch lines through the colors. The field seems to be right there in front of you because of its textured nature. The background is done with a feathery light touch.
This work is 12 x 24 inches unframed but has been framed in a black floating frame that makes the image Pop! This piece is the Summer of a 12 x 24 inch quartet I am painting. Winter is the "Wissahickon Bridge in Winter". Spring is "Dogwood in Spring" and Fall is, Chestnut Hill Estate Gates in Fall". The last two are unframed now but can be for and additional $50 each. I hope you like them all!
