Original artwork description:

February 29, 2020 my 48 year old daughter passed away after a 12 plus year battle with Breast Cancer. She was the bravest person I have ever known. I am bereft. So I started this painting showing the roiling stormy sea that was inside me. I knew it needed something and tried an island...different clouds...many boats, all of which didn't work. So, I pondered what I was really trying to say. It came to me that the painting wasn't about me. It was about my daughter.
The albatross is a seafarer spending most of it time over open ocean. It's six foot wing span helps it use the air currents to soar. I recalled and listened to a beautiful song called, Wings to Fly and incorporated the Black Browed Albatross into the painting soaring above the stormy seas and flying into the clearing skies and hope.
This is an impressive painting at 24 x 36 inches. It is not framed now but I am considering a black floating frame which will increase its size by about 2 inches all around and price about $150.00.
Even though a highly personal painting I believe anyone who has lost a loved one or appreciates the ocean and avian life should see a place for it in their collection.

Materials used:

Canvas with wood stretchers, gesso, acrylic paints, and gel varnish for protection
