Artist's description:

In 1983 I spent my honeymoon on Monhegan Island and took many many photos of this beautiful environmental microcosm that has maintained an artist colony for several hundred years. Famous artists have had studios: Rockwell Kent, James FItzgerald, Homer Winslow, the entire Wyeth family all worked and lived here. It is an artist's inspiration. Here I depict Monhegan Village with Manana just beyond, from Lighthouse Hill circa 1983. It is rustic environment with the Victorian era Island Inn standing tall and the meadow flowing in the breeze on a clear crisp day. Things have changed but not by much as you can access everything from Atlantic cliffs to a dense Cathedral Forest to Lobster Cove.... all in a days walk. Monhegan still attracts new artists to her shores.

Materials used:

canvas on wood stretchers, acrylic paint and gel varnish
