The inspiration for this improvisation was da Vinci's painting of the Madonna Litta, which I saw 25 years ago in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. The most important thing, however, is the subject matter of the painting, its symbolism, the questions it poses, and perhaps also the answers to them.
Thanks to the layering technique, the work on this oil painting (work number 1563) took several weeks. The painting was then left to dry for several weeks and covered with a protective film.
The canvas is stretched on a stretcher frame and is ready to hang. The image depth is 3 cm.
Ivan Gejko's works are an attempt to visualize his own thoughts, feelings, and observations using various symbols, allusions, associations, and metaphors. The goal of this work is to create a reflection of reality through personal investigation in a kind of narrative. I believe that every object, color, event, or feeling that surrounds us possesses a symbolic power that evokes a series of personal associations, can be combined into a kind of language, and thus creates a dramaturgy.
Original painting with certificate of authenticity. Signed lower right and on the back.
