Sacred Supper by Igor Galan is a visionary reinterpretation of the iconic Last Supper, recast within the streetscape of historic Lviv, Ukraine. Rather than apostles, Galan populates the long table with Carpathian opryshky – legendary Ukrainian rebels. As evening descends, the Latin Cathedral rises majestically in the background, glowing in soft purples and golds. Inside the archway, a torchlit supper unfolds beneath thick stone vaults, while a man parts a green curtain as if to reveal a secret, spiritual moment to the viewer.

This painting, created in 2025, bridges time periods and genres: sacred imagery meets historical drama, all rendered with Galan’s signature combination of expressive realism and cultural surrealism. The characters are earthy, dynamic, full of life and conflict – grounding the sacred theme in the very real struggle of Ukrainian historical identity.
