The Escape is inspired by the pulp detective magazines that were popular from 1930s to the 1950s - Jane has appropriated a cover of a woman in evening dress and put her in a forest with a huge blue iguana looking on. A mystery is created for the viewer, who wonders why she is scrambling over a log in the dense forest in evening dress - from what or who is she escaping?
Jane is a well-known Australian artist who has been finalist for art awards and also exhibited at Brisbane and Gold Coast galleries. Her paintings are in private collections worldwide.
