Original artwork description
This painterly image was created late summer in Northern California. Quietly rowing into this gentle cove, the boaters were curiously exploring. What initially struck me was the dynamic contrast of the light boat and white clothed figures seen against the deep green foliage and water. The shimmering reflections added a sense of movement to this intimate scene.
I paint in the lineage of the French and American Impressionists who were inspired by the light and color of nature. This was painted with a brush on a linen canvas panel which is more conducive to outdoor painting.
