"Tango Metropolitano" is a foundational piece in my artistic evolution — the first painting where I introduced my now distinctive pixelated palette knife technique, used here in the background and on the surrounding figures.
At the heart of the canvas, a couple dances an intense tango, their bodies rendered with realism and softness painted by brush, capturing the sensuality and emotional charge of the movement. Around them, the city blurs into dynamic blocks of color and fragmented silhouettes — a visual rhythm echoing the music and chaos of metropolitan life.
Part of my Life Dances series, this work explores the tension between intimacy and spectacle, between human connection and urban anonymity. It represents the moment where classical oil technique begins to merge with the digital-inspired fragmentation that defines my current visual language.
This artwork received the Technical Jury Prize for accuracy at the 2013 Gabriele D’Annunzio International Competition, and has been exhibited in various prestigious venues, including:
– Pietraia dei Poeti Museum
– ZeroUno Gallery, Barletta
– Mole Vanvitelliana, Ancona
– Palazzetto dell'Arte "Andrea Pazienza", Foggia
It is also featured in the catalogs Dreams and Needs and in my monograph Beyond the Horizon.
