Original artwork description:

This painting was painted in plein air and later finished in the studio. I like this painting approach because I have "direct experience" with all surroundings, constantly changing lights and colors. This way I wanted to capture the evening mood and sunset light effect. Later, I finished painting it in the studio from memory. Working from memory helps me to focus on the essents, not on details. Tomas Stanaitis is a new-generation Lithuanian painter. His works are most often inspired by themes of nature and landscape. As he says: “As an artist, what I enjoy most is observing. Whether it’s a landscape, still life, or portrait—there’s always something fascinating to look at closely. I try to see the color and shape. If it’s a landscape, I aim to feel and convey the sense of space. I often emphasize color as a way to highlight the essence of painting itself.” A direct visual experience is extremely important in his creative process, which is why he always works from life. He combines the plasticity of drawing with the depth of painting. Tomas believes that the answers he seeks in his art can be found in nature—not within the four walls of a studio. His works are held in private collections in Miami, London, Brussel. Please note, Import duties and taxes may be applied to your order upon arrival in your country.
