This is my second painting of Sunflowers using an African material. I discovered this African material at a market near me. I browse the markets and second hand shops like a magpie and I often buy props for my still life and flower paintings. I found the vibrant colours of this cloth inspired me to paint it with the sunflowers. The colours went with my Sunflowers and I added the Lemons to finish the composition and for more interest. These flowers are an inspiration to me - I love painting them in all sorts of ways. I am influenced by Van Gogh - I love his colours, style and subjects. This painting is in oils using high quality paints on a deep edge stretched canvas ready to hang.
