This painting plays on the fact that a Canadian Goose has a rather lovely white band near the top of it’s head. It seemed only right to add the bow.
Lately, my work has been exploring themes of adolescence: that charged period of self-discovery, experimentation, and identity-building. This piece taps into the teenage experience of trying on new personas, often through bold clothing choices—those strong visual signifiers we use to find a sense of belonging among like-minded peers. It's about the push and pull of rebellion: dressing in ways that challenge parental expectations, feeling awkward yet strangely empowered in unfamiliar styles.
I see this unfolding now in my own children, and it brings back vivid memories of my own teenage years—those moments of uncertainty, defiance, and the search for connection and self.
