In Silence, the artist channels the spirit of ancient Japanese ink drawings, reimagining their meditative restraint and elemental gestures through the depth and richness of oil paint. Dark, jagged forms rise like ink-brushed mountains, their silhouettes dissolving into ethereal mists of white. A quiet glow of orange and green suggests both dawn and twilight, echoing the timeless cycles of nature often captured in traditional scroll paintings.


While rooted in the aesthetics of antiquity, the work remains resolutely contemporary. Luminous veils, splatters, and subtle traces of red energy disturb the stillness, transforming the image into a terrain that is both interior and exterior, physical and spiritual. This is the first in a body of work created in the artist's silent retreat.
