Art Deco-ish

Part of the roundism series. This look rather art deco-like I think. Of course I like that era and although surrealist it has the same atmosphere like my tribute to Man Ray. It got style unlike this era in which ugliness rules and which is branded by a total lack and respect for the craft and imagination of an artist.

Aesthetics Back on the Menu

I think I will do an article on aesthetics lost and the reign of post World War II art. After 1945 art shifted gear to a level of discovering boundaries of what art is not, already preceded by Marcel Duchamp’s fountain, called ‘R. Mutt’. Henceforward art has been presented through abstract expressionism, pop art, fluxus, post modernism, concept art, etc., etc. Some art forms do enchant me more than other, like pop art. Some cause a faint smile on my face like so many concept art you still find in modern galleries an musems nowadays.

Dali’s Quote

By sheer lack of the craft one easily tends to remember Salvador Dali’s quote: “The first who paintend a bouquet of flowers is a genuis, the second is a fool”. What must count for sentimental motifs like flowers, I think also counts for nifty concept ideas.

What Do You Think?

Where does my path lead to when all goodies of modern art have been consumed: to my doorstep of craft and beauty. Hence my statement as to the necessity of a reintroduction of aesthetics. But wait a minute, didn’t I wrote that article just yet or should I fulminate further? What do you think?
