This mixed media artwork is a boldly experimental expressionist work on 300lb hot press smooth finish printing paper. Aluminum enamel is used for unsual light effects. The text is the scientific name of wild flowers near where I live. It features rich red oil hues.

I am interested in meaningfulness and not the ubiquitous decorative painting that is primarily meant to enhance the space it’s in.

Darren Jekel is married and fathers two daughters in northern California’s wine growing region.
