This painting is a reflection of a vivid memory – standing by the coast, where the trees meet the light and the sea begins. I wanted to capture the moment not as it looked, but as it felt: alive, sun-soaked, and gently moving with the wind. I was inspired by the colors of the Mediterranean – bold yet harmonious – and let emotion guide my palette. The brushstrokes in the foliage are loose, expressive, and layered in yellows, greens, and blues, creating a canopy that feels almost in motion. The tree trunks are simplified, graphic, and lyrical, grounding the composition with rhythm and structure.
Rather than seeking realism, I aimed for atmospheric presence: a place you may have seen before, or perhaps only dreamed of. The contrast between the dappled trees and the open sea evokes a sense of freedom, peace, and clarity – the essence of being close to nature. This work is part of an ongoing exploration of landscape as emotion and memory – not a reproduction, but a translation of how a place can live inside us.
