A portrait of my friend with her back to the viewer. The painting is taken from a sketch I created in Penzance, Cornwall in 2006. We were travelling around Cornwall and had stopped at Penzanne, enjoying the town and the views nearby. The sketch was created in the morning with the soft morning light.
The painting is impressionistic in its style, applying broad, short strokes of greens and blues, implying the landscape and the relationship between the body and the land, exploring form. The painting reminds me of those times spent lazily, taking time to explore this county of Cornwall.
[This painting is ready to hang - although not framed. Will look good in a gold and green/ blue frame]
