This horse came to me very suddenly—and did not leave until I agreed to begin drawing him.
I had no time at all and no energy. But he stayed, quietly insistent, clearly showing me exactly how he wanted to be portrayed.

It is very rare for unfamiliar characters to appear to me uninvited. Usually, when someone persistent shows up, it happens after I’ve already begun a story—then new visitors may enter it.
They might push out those who came before them, or bring someone else along with them.

He must have been in a hurry to reach someone—there was something important about him coming that particular evening.
