Artwork description:

On this large monumental artwork the fragile bird hovers midair, caught in a moment of vibrant tension. A red hibiscus blooms defiantly beneath it - the only grounded element in a world bleeding color and chaos. Behind them, the distorted skyline of New York emerges like a fractured dream, with iconic silhouettes from the Statue of Liberty to looming glass towers, etched in neon tones.
Inspired by the haunting line “Frozen with fear” from Octavio Paz, the hummingbird becomes a metaphor for emotional paralysis - suspended between flight and fall, beauty and collapse. The dripping rainbow graffiti above evokes a rain of suppressed feeling, as if the city itself weeps color. There's motion, yet also stillness, as if time stutters.
This version is also haunted by the melancholy of Leaving New York by R.E.M. - the bird could be a stand-in for the transient soul, fluttering at the edge of a city that both attracts and alienates. It's a farewell not just to a place, but to a version of oneself.
