It's scary and exciting to go right up to the edge of the receding water. To catch that moment of imminent return and run back in terror.
It's a lot of fun. It's a feeling of childhood. A feeling of vulnerability and sudden rescue.
It's a shame there were no low tides in my childhood, or high tides for that matter.
