Working under the pseudonym Mothy Haemers, I create paintings that move between figuration and introspection. My work is driven by a fascination for human presence — not always visible, but always implied. I explore silence, memory, vulnerability and tension through restrained gestures, muted palettes and layered textures.

I am inspired by artists like Michael Borremans and Luc Tuymans — painters who balance ambiguity with emotional intensity. Like them, I aim to leave space for interpretation, inviting the viewer not to understand, but to feel.

Each painting is a search — for form, balance, and meaning. I work slowly, often revisiting canvases over weeks or months, allowing the work to evolve organically. What emerges is often subtle, sometimes unsettling, but always personal.

I’m currently based in Belgium and France, and my ambition is to connect with collectors and galleries who value depth, nuance, and a certain quiet intensity in contemporary painting.
