“Burning Bush” is a sculptural “still-life” comprised of glazed ceramic elements and intriguing stones collected from the Utah desert. This dramatic arrangement balances asymmetrically on top of an unglazed black platter. The heavily glazed black twigs with nuances of reds and yellow stones are evocative of the small bushes one often finds on the desert floor, with windswept twigs in their sturdy branches. There is a rich dialogue between the detail of the stones and the ceramic structure. It is an intimate construction that reflects elegance with a modern sensibility.
