Original artwork description:

This powerful, abstract, and textured collage, constructed from numerous long, narrow, hand-torn strips of paper, dynamically expresses a central explosion or burst of energy, primarily through color and line. The piece is composed of four equal square canvases, arranged in a grid to create a larger square with the gap between the squares creating a cross. In each quadrant, a radial burst of lines appears to burst outwards from the invisible center point of the overall image (the void between canvases). This creates a strong illusion of speed, force, and light emanating from the core.
The dominant colors are various shades of blue (from deep navy and indigo to bright sapphire and sky blue) and gray (including silver, slate, and charcoal). Strips of different shades, textures, and sheens are woven together to prevent any single line from dominating. This intermingling of light and dark, bright and muted, creates a sense of vibrancy and shimmering depth, suggesting an overwhelming, release of energy—like an underwater explosion, or a distant blue star being torn apart.

About
My work is inspired by the world around me. Impressionistic collages of landscapes obviously get their cues from nature. Others pieces, while more abstract, are still influenced by the patterns... Read more
