This superb sandy beach is located at the bottom of the En-Vau cove on the Mediterranean sea. Surrounded by high cliffs and bathed in transparent turquoise water, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and impressive 'calanques' (coves)
near Marseille. In the background, you can just make out the cliff plunged into darkness. On the rocks to the right, a few stunted pine trees struggle to survive. In the foreground, bathers enjoy this incomparable setting. A watercolor and a few sketches I had madein-situ in early summer served as studies for this work.
