This plein air work was painted on a shifting-weather day in Itajaí, Brazil. The boat was moored on the Itajaí River, in the area of the historic center, where the light changed constantly as clouds moved across the sky.
The painting captures these variations — alternating moments of brightness and shadow — along with the natural movement of the water and the structure of the fishing boats typical of the region.
Created directly on site, this study reflects the atmosphere of the river and the rhythm of a working harbor.
