When I painted A tempo di tango, I was thinking about how some moments feel like they belong outside of time. That’s why the couple is dancing inside a clock — because real connection, to me, has its own tempo.
This piece is a tribute to the tango’s intensity: the passion, the elegance, the silent agreement between two people who don’t need to speak to understand each other.
I used my usual palette knife and pixelated style to suggest contrast and harmony at once — rough textures and smooth curves, time and feeling, structure and surrender.
I like how the red dress cuts through the geometry like a flame, and how the lovers seem to move even if they’re still. That’s what tango does: it makes you stop breathing for a second. Just like art.
