Original artwork description:

A Break in the Clouds captures a fleeting moment on the slopes of Dunkery, Exmoor. The moorland sweeps towards the coast in a symphony of late-autumn colour, where cool, calming hues of the late Autumn heather and grass, frame the foreground. Above, a tumultuous sky of thick, layered clouds in charcoal and slate-blue hangs heavy with the coming rain. This dense, brooding atmosphere is abruptly broken by a luminous gap, carved out by a brilliant, cool light. This light, reflecting off the unseen sun, pools over the waters of the Bristol Channel, painting the far coastline in a shimmering, silvered glow. It is a study of transient light and weather, a moment of fleeting beauty where gloom gives way to glimmer.

Materials used:

Hardwood board, primed with gesso, painted with oils and sealed with a satin varnish.
