"Between Warkworth and Alnmouth, towards the Sea, 2017" by Paul West

“This piece represents a stretch of land connecting two towns in Northumberland in the haze of midday. The tractor trails, criss crossing the landscape with islands of hawthorn and gorse alone in swathes of wheat.”

"Diptych: The River. Two original framed oil paintings, 2017" by Jane Kell

“This diptych was inspired by the view of a river in the Summer sunshine. Lovely reflections and shadows in this pair of semi-abstract paintings - a range of rich blues and greens - suggest the ripples and movement in the water.”

"The Jewel, 2017" by Corinne Korda

“This still life is part of a series I have been working on recently. They are all painted from life and staged in a shadowbox I have set up in my studio space. These smaller paintings allow me to experiment with different light and other effects, such as the transparency of glass. Here I loved how beautiful the onion looked - almost like a pearl with its silvery, shiny skin. That is why I placed it in a silver plated bowl I brought back from India many years ago.”

"Cypress Swamp, 2017" by Katrina Case

“I have recently been reconnected with a friend of mine from high school who now lives in Louisiana. He is the sole inspiration for this piece. I have always thought the cypress with Spanish moss hanging from its limbs was a magical thing. Now they hold an even greater magic for me; the possibilities of an uncharted future, second chances and new memories to be made. The haunting beauty of these giants rests steady in my thoughts, the quiet sounds of the swamp tugging gently at me, enticing me to come and visit; to travel through these ancient gardens.”

"After the Storm, 2017" by Dawn Rodger

“I tend to equate those vast horizons and skies with internal emotions. Hence this piece represents the relief after an intense emotional period. The clouds are dissipating and the swell has softened. It is the calm drippy stillness that follows the drama of the storm.”

"Sharing a Meal. 20"x30" Premium Fine Art Canvas Print, 2014" by Roshan Panjwani

“This photograph was made in the grasslands of Jim Corbett National Park in India. Elephants are known to form deep family bonds, living in tight matriarchal herds. The intimate moment between a mother and a calf, captured in this frame, reflects this bond and the intimacy and the sense of happiness make this frame special for me.”

"Trees and River at Hafod, 2017" by Georgina Bouzyk

“This painting was inspired by the rich and dynamic landscape of the Hafod Estate, near Aberystwyth, mid-Wales. The intense, rich colours of the autumn moss and ripples of water between the crags evoked a moody, atmospheric landscape. The dynamic and layered brush marks evoke a sense of movement between the water and the solid crags of rock that make up the composition. This painting was part of a series of paintings exhibited at the National Assembly of Wales, exhibiting the best of contemporary art in Wales.”

"Hat Yai Nighthawks, 2017" by Kenson Low

“On a recent trip to Malaysia, I travelled with family to Thailand for a couple of days, staying in the city of Hat Yai, near the border. While out walking that first evening I came across this Thai restaurant which immediately reminded me of Edward Hopper's 'Nighthawks' painting. I returned later that night with my camera, took several reference shots, and on return to England, got to work on my own version of that painting, producing 'Hat Yai Nighthawks'.”

"Gold To See You Through Winter, 2017" by Jenny Wilson

“One last walk together, it was the the first day of September and the fields were cropped and golden. All of summer rolled into golden round parcels waiting across the fields. The next day, walking the same way, on my own, the golden parcels were gone and left were empty fields ready for Autumn. Endings and beginnings at the same time…”

"Abstsract Art Sixty-One, 2012" by Lynne Taetzsch

“I always paint standing up at an easel so that I can move freely, painting with large gestures and reacting immediately to the image in front of me. This painting was created with abstract expressionist passion. I used a palette knife to make broad strokes of paint, letting the shapes spring to life and build upon each other. Like fire rising, the reds leap and grow, bursting from the muted background.”
