    Hampshire Open Studios

    Set up this week for Hampshire Open Studios at the D'Art Centre in Hedge End. My studio is in my loft at home so not suitable for visitors unfortunately. I have 50 original paintings on sale as well as a range of prints. Open form 10.00 am to 5.00 pm every day up to and including the Bank holiday Monday 28th Aug. Would be great to meet you!

    I have started to drop off paintings for the start of Hampshire Open Studios exhibition at the D'Art Centre in Hedge End which opens with a private view on Friday 18th Aug. This 1.5m x1.2 m large painting is one that will be hung in the Foyer space next week.

    En Plein Air in Hamble

    During a break in the weather I enjoyed getting out there to paint 'En Plein Air' on the banks of the River Hamble. The River Hamble Sailing club juniors had moored up and gone for lunch leaving their dinghies with brightly coloured sails which made for a great composition!

    Met up with the other artists this week who will be exhibiting at the D'art Centre in Hedge End for the Hampshire open studios this August. Lucy Tipper - Botanical Contact Print Artist and Painter inspired by wild spaces, creating art with plant and earth-based pigments. Elizabeth Saunders - Textile and Mixed Media Artist exploring memories using paint, print, and stitch within her work. Sally Hawke - Semi-abstract seascapes in oil inspired by the coast of the South of England. Amy Harwood - Illustrator creating bright and playful designs with gouache paint and mixed media. Vicki North (North Family Arts) - Ceramicist and Needlefelt Artist. Paul Best - Impressionist and abstract landscape and seascapes in acrylic and oil paints. The coffee shop, toilet facilities and art shop will be open. There will be series of demonstrations and workshops running throughout the 10 days. 10am - 5pm 19th - 28th August The D'art Centre, Wildern Lane, Hedge End, SO30 4EJ

    In such a tough environment currently, it is a pleasure to have sold my original painting 'Kinetic Fusion V'. It was one of the paintings that I was hesitant to include in a recent exhibition. Just goes to show that one can never be really sure of what paintings might be popular and find that buyer and those that will not!

    Wonderful Message Today

    Wonderful Message Today

    I had the following message today from a customer who had purchased my painting 'Titchfield Haven IX ' a couple of years ago. "I just wanted to drop you a quick note of appreciation as I am sat here in my kitchen with my morning coffee as I do most mornings staring at your beautiful picture. The sunlight is streaming in through the open French doors picking up all the gold in the reeds and marsh grasses and really bringing it to life. I feel like I could almost walk into it, like that old man in the Box of Delights. I just wanted you to know that your painting puts a smile on my face every day, thank you". What a wonderful message for any artist to receive. This is worth much more than gold and is very welcome today!
