    Spring on the Hampshire coastline

It is great to be getting out there along the Hampshire coast again.. and just being very thankful that we still have the freedom to enjoy the Spring time in the UK... With so much darkness at home and across the world currently, we can only take respite in the people, places and nature that we hold precious and each do what we can to work towards a better future.

    Realistic abstraction

    Realistic abstraction

I am striving for a more abstract style currently whilst retaining some definition which conveys an individual sense of place. One could call this 'Realistic abstraction' . I have been experimenting with this for years and it remains very challenging.... but I hope that I am at last starting to make some progress.

A blue sky over a Golden Wheatfield

Feeling a huge solidarity with and admiration for the brave people of the independent European Country of Ukraine today. Their flag is based on a golden yellow wheat field under a blue sky. All of my proceeds from the sale of this painting will be donated to Ukraine humanitarian aid.

    Stormy Weather

    Stormy Weather

The recent stormy weather seems to have presented some particularly spectacular skies, sunsets and seascapes... so this has proven to be my main painting obsession at the moment. It is as if nature is fighting back and showing us who is the real boss.

    Iconic Hampshire Landscape

    Iconic Hampshire Landscape

Back to some iconic South Downs, Hampshire Landscape. My latest painting depicts the view from the approach to Old Winchester Hill across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Unusually there are no pylons or unsightly industrial development in this view which will have been very similar for centuries.

    Arcus

    Arcus

Arcus..... Latin for rainbow...My latest pair of paintings are inspired by rainbow trout. The range of skin colour and markings is a wonder of nature and inspire some fantastic shimmering abstract images!

    Golden Skies

    Golden Skies

There have been some particularly dramatic sun sets in Hampshire these past few weeks which have been such powerful inspiration for paintings. I think that I am probably addicted to sunsets. With the depressing decline in the political state of the UK currently it seems as if nature is trying even harder to lift the spirits!

    Winter Sky

There have been grey skies in the UK over the past few days so I have been craving a bit of colour therapy!

    Impatient for Spring

    Impatient for Spring

Generally I tend to follow the seasons with my landscape inspired paintings but I am getting impatient for Spring now! I am still enjoying using my latest purchase of Windsor and Newton professional iridescent paints.
