Original artwork description:

A medium-sized oil painting ready to hang in a room that needs a new object of contemplation.

This painting is part of the Fear Project series and the organic result of a dialogue with a cancer survivor, Emi. While I was painting at a very quick pace, as usual, he didn't talk to me about his fear of death, but the fear of losing the friends he made while in hospital, friends who were suffering from the same condition.

It is a 50 x 60 cm oil painting with a gilded background and a very strong emotional value.

+ The Fear Project commenced as a means of getting to know me better, to discover my inner struggles. I knew I could never do this on my own so I initiated a dialogue on the subject of fear with my sitters. I wanted to create images that comprise both the facial features of people and their experiences of fear in order to find my own.
+ Some people have cried, some were nervous; some were put in the situation to contemplate their fears for the first time. Each person presented me with a distinct story and we went, together, through a cathartic experience.
+ I believe that fear is crucial for our day-to-day survival and even though my portraits seem a bit sad or nostalgic, they stand for my perception of powerful people who know how to handle their insecurities and can be seen as role-models.

The sides are not painted.
It will be securely packed with layers of bubble wrap and cardboard for safe delivery.

The work is varnished.

Do not hesitate to drop me a line for more details :)

Thank you,
Alexandra
