Artwork description:

“Together forever” is the Earth and moon front-lit by a northern hemisphere summer sun. The moon was most likely formed from a ring cloud of molten rock that was explosively impact ejected from the proto-Earth as it was forming through the natural accretion process that delivered the solar system 4.6 million years ago. As the inner solar system “ settled down” the moon, scared and pitted from the bombardment that formed it, has slowly moved away from its original close Earth orbit to 385km and travels around the Earth every 27.3 days. The Earth and its moon will be locked together in a symbiotic embrace for billions of years yet.

The Earth shines in this light and we can only imagine the welcoming view to returning astronauts who, in the future, will be exploring the outer solar system.
