Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

This is a slab built sculpture made with Raku clay fired at cone 10 in a gas reduction kiln. This is an interesting piece particularly because of it's functionality. The base portion is a perfect space for storing scarfs or whatever strikes your fancy, and the top, with the chimney being the mouth, is a vase.
-The following excerpt is a part of my display when I do exhibitions of The Village series.

-The Tower Library is where knowledge is stored and learning nurtured. Where questions are encouraged and thoughtfully pondered by minds trained in probing the hidden mysteries. Books of science, religion, philosophy, astrology, astronomy, mathematics, forgotten languages, forgotten histories; all there for the curious mind willing to tread the spiral stairs to closed up rooms with with dusty shelves and dusty books, when opened, reveal a world beyond.
