Artist's description:

Some time ago, following a particularly long painting session which ended with an evening of celebration involving a generous amount of wine drinking, I woke up a little hung-over.
I had just completed an abstract piece called SYMPHONIE No 1 - ASCENDANTE (Symphony No 1 - Ascending) which was inspired by Netherlands-born French film director Jan Kounen’s movie COCO & IGOR. As with most hangovers, I was feeling a little low and depressed, but never one to let the bad get the better of my creativity, I decided to utilise the emotions to create the antithesis of that former painting which was about upward emotions, inspiration and lyrical impulse. Here I am visually expressing how the inebriation of the muse, as with all excesses, gives way to the sedimentation of inspiration. Nonetheless it is not to be seen as a negative piece. The sediment, in its downward spiral, will not disappear, it will only lay at the bottom of its fall, waiting to be stimulated again once the poisonous effects of alcohol have subsided and clarity of mind is restored to re-open the gates of creativity.
