Artist's description:

Great portraits of the past often provide visual inspiration and a starting point for my own artwork. I absorb these influences and synthesize them with my own memories and experiences in order to create psychological self-portraits.
This painting was inspired by the great society portrait painter John Singer Sargent. I was touched by the beauty and the resemblance of the sisters in his portrait. It reminded me of the closeness I feel with my sister. I wanted to paint these Edwardian ladies as if they were eternal and yet vulnerable to time.
