Original artwork description:

Selfie looks at how people portray themselves through social media. The figure is taking a picture using a selfie stick but from an unflattering angle. This is an attempt at authenticity rather than the popular high angle to slim the figure. It makes the figure appear fat almost swollen and bloated. The figure can not bare to view this harsh reality. However the reality is still skewed by the low angle. the harsh light reveals the figure pressed into a corner, to intimidated to fill the frame let alone the cell like room it inhabits. It attempts to smile but can only manage a grimace. It doesn't really want to be part of the social media phenomena but doesn't know how not to be. It has written 123 on its hand to remind it how we now MAKE images rather than capture them. This picture is not for the figure it is intended for others to view. But this image will never be seen. The reality of mind and body will be discarded until the fallacy is perfected.
