This is my very first solarplate print. I have printed two editions of 10 of this print, I love it so much that I can't print many! The image for me holds a melancholy and is of time passing and decay, at the time of me creating this image I was fascinated by Edwardian scientific books and their illustrations so the style is heavily influenced by this. The exposure image is from a photograph of a shell that I had taken on a beach on the west coast of Mull. It was desolate, cold and a moody place. I loved it. It was isolated and yet only 10 minutes from a busy road. Now, it is frequently over-run by bird watchers desperate to see a Sea Eagle's nest. The magic of the place is lost in a sea of campervans and canvas chairs and telephoto lenses. People are so weird.
The print is on very high quality Somerset paper in Sepia tone ink.
