Artist's description:

This is a painting out of wood in my ‘Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls’ series. When I found this sheet of spalted maple veneer I immediately envisioned using the spalted grain lines to be the contours of mountains and then set out to create a shellac tinting technique for how to achieve the depth of these colors without blocking out the characteristics of the wood it’s self. So all the mountainous detail in this work is all wood grain! This intrepid original reminded me of Ryu from Street Fighter II thus the title . The backside of the piece has three coats of marine spar varnish. The sides and front surfaces of this piece are varnished in crystal clear ultra uv resistant non-yellowing 'Art Resin' self-leveling epoxy specifically designed to ensure the preservation and protection of both the woodwork and the integrity of these colors! This also makes the piece washable. The piece comes ready to hang with it's own "French Cleat" for quick, easy and super secure hanging. Dimensions (38"H x 14.25"L x .5W)
