Artist's description:

This painting is perhaps one of my only forays into some sort of color field abstraction, although the pale whitish color is a river, and there is some element of depth and horizon, so I'd call this a figurative landscape painting in a highly abstract style. New France was known for wilderness, many perils, cold, and of course forests, lakes and rivers. This is the imagining of the first European settlers of where they are traveling to and the vast unknown they will meet when they arrive.
