This is a colour edition of the linocut 'Morning Serenade'.
It's that pesky crow again, last seen in 'Tete-a tete: the hare and the crow'!
My dog Taylor loves walking past this farm every morning, and there are always a cluck of chickens and flock of geese milling about. One day there was this crow making a ruckus, which sowed the seed for this linocut. I have tried to capture the sense of movement, with the moon still out and shining through over the birds, the trees swaying in the breeze, and the somewhat overgrown garden. Just a snapshot in time before the world wakes up!
This is a linocut, created from my original design and sketches that I transferred to the lino and then each print was inked and printed by hand, making each print unique and original. This is in that moment of time as the world is still bathed in moonlight before the first ray of sun shines through, using oil-based inks on 150 gsm Zerkall printing paper with a smooth finish. Each piece is printed individually by hand, and so there would be minor variations hence making each unique.
This is an unique one-off print. Printed in Payne's grey using Japanese tissue paper for chine colle, where the pieces of tissue are glued to the reverse of the block carefully before burnishing it by hand onto paper. An extremely fiddly process, it gives a beautiful transparency to the colours, highlighting different aspects of the print.
The print is sent loose and unframed in a reinforced envelope with an attractive wrapping and mount board backing. It should fit most standard frames.
