Artist's description:

This is an image of the structure that stands at the top of the Victorian lift shaft between Marine Parade and Madeira Drive in Brighton. It opened in 1890 and was used to transport 15 people at a time between the two levels. As with some of my other work, is was shot on 35mm slide film, then processed as print film, a technique known as cross processing. It's what gives the image its other worldly feel.
