Artist's description:

This abstract image depicts the forgotten daughter of James Joyce, Lucia Joyce. Despite her intelligence and wonderful talents as a dancer, Lucia's fate was to languish in an English Asylum for 50 years. With such a famous father, how could Lucia be completely written out of history? It is deeply tragic and heart rending that all of her medical records, her poems and indeed every record of her existence were destroyed. How sad that such a beautiful, talented soul was left to live out most of her days in an institution - so alone, friendless and completely forgotten about.

The final piece is a tribute to Lucia and to the forgotten females throughout history. The background is an edited photograph of a James Joyce sculpture I captured in Dublin. If you look closely you should see his dark shadow in the background. Lucia is the beautiful dancer who represents innocence and playfulness. Despite the darkness surrounding her, Lucia's soul continues to dance. May her soul and the injustice that befell her never be forgotten about.
