  Artist's description:

  After a long hot walk during a summer vacation my wife and I stopped for an ice-cream in Little Italy. I was struck by the shadows cast onto the street. Out came the sketch book and on my return home I produced this oil painting.
  I hope I have captured something of the August heat in California.
