Artist's description:

This 2014 piece was inspired by the emotions associated with leaving behind a piece of yourself, or trying to. What I find interesting about it is that at first glance one concludes that the clothed woman is leaving the naked woman behind but it could be the other way around. When I paint two women together, they are often two versions of the same person. I am interested in the duality of man (or woman), and all the various parts we play throughout our lives. How we merge from one to the other and how those different parts of ourselves often war against one another. In this piece, we see two women that in many ways appear opposite yet they represent the same person. How can one exist without the other and how can they exist together? This is one of the common themes in my work.
